Hold Rites Friday For Laurel Woman; Death an Accident
LAUREL – Funeral services were held at Gilman Friday afternoon for Mrs. Mabelle McAllister, 38, who was found in the garden east of her home near here Wednesday afternoon fatally shot in the chest.
Her husband, Arnold F. McAllister, found the body about 6:30 p.m. after he and their son, Donald, 10, had returned from a trip to Marshalltown.
The shooting is believed to have been accidental, since apparently Mrs. McAllister had gone to the garden to shoot rabbits which had been molesting the property recently.
W. M. Ogg and Mr. and Mrs. Mason Ogg of Monroe and Mrs. M. J. Carey of Newton attended the rites. Mrs. McAllister was a niece of W. M. Ogg and a cousin of Mason Ogg and Mrs. Carey.
