Conduct Rites In Newton For Charles Mackey
Funeral services for Charles Mackey, 73, were conducted from the Toland funeral home Sunday at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Ernest F. Ruff of the Full Gospel church.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Forehand furnished the music, singing “Face to Face,” “I Know My Name is There,” and “When I Take My Vacation.”
Interment was in the Newton Memorial Park cemetery, with the following serving as pall bearers: Tom McKeever, Eugene White, Clarence Snyder, Jack Leaming, Charles Messick and John Hayes.
Mr. Mackey died Thursday, Sept. 23, at his home, following a stroke, suffered the previous Monday.
A boiler maker by trade, Mr. Mackey was formerly employed by the city. For a number of years, he tended the furnace in the Masonic building and the former Lister Opera house building.
Surviving are his wife, who lives in Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. Don Hannagan of Newton and Mrs. Leota Van Blaricum of Indianapolis; a son, James Mackey of Indianapolis, and a son by a former marriage, Albert Mackey.
