James A. Kerr Former Newton Attorney, Dies
James A. Kerr, 81, of Seattle, Wash., former Newton attorney, died at Seattle, Sept. 20, following a two-month illness.
Attorney Kerr was graduated from the University of Iowa law school in 1881, and came to Newton in 1883 to practice law. He was in partnership here with his cousin W. O. McElroy.
Mr. Kerr was married to Lulu Zinn of Newton in June 1885, and couple went to the west coast in 1890
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, two daughters, three brothers, Will C., S. H., and Dr. Edward W. Kerr, all of Seattle, and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Harrah of Seattle, Mrs. Marthena Joslin of Portland, Ore.; and Mrs. Emily Craven of Palo Alto, Cal.
Mr. Kerr was a cousin of Bert Beatty and Mrs. Margaret Vanatta of Newton.
