Mrs. Herbold, Former County Resident, Dies
Mrs. Christina Hartwig Herbold, 84, former Jasper county resident, died at her home at Rhodes, Ia., Wednesday, Dec. 22, following a year’s illness.
Funeral services will be conducted from the home at Rhodes Friday at 2:00 p.m., and interment will be in a cemetery near there.
She was married in Newton in January, 1872, to Henry Herbold, and they lived for several years on a farm in Sherman township northwest of Newton. They moved to a farm near Rhodes 50 years ago.
Mrs. Herbold was preceded in death by her husband in 1912, by a daughter, Martha Merryman, in 1932, and by a son, Lee, in 1914.
Surviving are four children, Julius of Edgemont, S.D., Mrs. Rosa Voght of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Sophia Shyrock and Walter, both of Rhodes. A nephew, Francis Hartwig, lives at Kellogg.
