Newton Woman Dies Friday
Mrs. Lewis Gidley Suffered Stroke at Burial Service For Grandson
Just 48 hours after the burial of her two-day old grandson, Mrs. Lewis Gidley, 46, of 205 North Fifth Avenue West, died Friday at 3:30 p.m.
Mrs. Gidley suffered a stroke Wednesday while attending the burial services at McKeever Cemetery near Colfax for her grandson, Ronald Gidley. She never regained consciousness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gidley will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Murdoch funeral home. The Rev. H. Leroy Kinser, pastor of the Christian church, will be in charge. Burial will be in McKeever Cemetery.
Alma Byrd Gidley was born May 19, 1890 at Riverton, Ia. She was the daughter of Martin and Margaret (Corbett) Gidley.(sic)
Surviving are her husband, Lewis Gidley and four children, Donavan Byrd, Nellie E., Dale R. and Ruth Ann, all of Newton.
Also three sisters and a brother, Mrs. C. V. Frazier of Des Moines; Alvan Byrd of Des Moines, Mrs. F. L. Wise of Marshalltown and Mrs. Marvin Davis of Shenandoah.
