Injuries Fatal To Newton Man
Clarence Davis Dies at State Hospital From Fractured Pelvic Bone
Clarence Davis, 42, Newton, died Tuesday night at the state hospital in Mount Pleasant as the result of injuries suffered in a fall from a window there a few weeks ago. He is reported to have suffered a fractured pelvic bone.
The body was to be brought to Newton today to the Morgan funeral home.
Mr. Davis, who was born at Ava, Mo., Dec. 8, 1894, had been employed at the Maytag factory in Newton from June 1933, to Dec. 15, 1936. He entered the state hospital Feb. 10, 1937.
Mr. Davis’ family lives at 926 East Seventh Street North and includes his wife and seven children. The eldest, Dean, 17, left recently for a CCC camp, but has been recalled by his father’s death.
Other children surviving are Jack, Billy, Marjorie, Charles, Marilyn and Thomas.

Davis Funeral Services Set For Tomorrow
Funeral services for Clarence Davis, 42, will be conducted from the Morgan funeral home Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. E. F. Ruff, pastor of the Full Gospel church.
The body will be taken to the home of Mrs. Davis’ sister, Mrs. W. C. Harbour, 405 East Third Street South, Sunday at 9:00 a.m., and will be returned to the funeral home about 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Davis died Friday morning at the state hospital at Mount Pleasant as the result of a fractured pelvic bone, suffered in a fall from a window several weeks ago.
Mr. Davis was born at Ava, Mo., Dec. 8, 1894 and was married to Olive Raridin at Jefferson, Mo., Jan. 16, 1917.
They lived at Yale, Ia., until coming to Newton 14 years ago. Mr. Davis was employed for several years at the Maytag factory.
Surviving relatives are his wife; eight children, Mrs. Darlene Wright, Dean, Jack, Billy, Marjorie, Buddy, Marilyn and Tommy; his father, David Davis of Mountain Grove, Mo., and four brothers and two sisters.

Relatives of Davis Will Not Demand Inquest
Relatives of Clarence Davis, 42-year-old Newton man who died in the state hospital at Mt. Pleasant Friday following injuries received in a fall, said this afternoon they had dismissed plans previously formulated to return the body to Mt. Pleasant and demand a coroner’s inquest.
Relatives requested Dr. E. A. McMurray, Newton physician and county coroner, to examine the body after it arrived here Friday, but since the death certificate had been already signed possibilities of demanding an inquest were dropped.
According to accounts of the death received here, Mr. Davis suffered a fractured pelvic bone in a fall from a window at the state institution and the injury attributed to his death. Relatives here said that Mr. Davis had been recovering and was expected to be released prior to the fall and subsequent death.
