Mrs. Cunningham Dies Early Today
Newton Woman Dies at Skiff Hospital Following Long Illness
Mrs. James Cunningham, 48, 821 West Fifth Street South, died today at 4:00 a.m., at the Skiff Memorial hospital as the result of a long illness from toxic goiter.
She submitted to an operation Monday, from which she failed to rally.
Mrs. Cunningham had spent most of the summer in Bonifay, Fla., with a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Moffett, and while there had suffered a severe attack, as the result of the goiter. She returned to Newton late this fall and entered the hospital about two weeks ago.
Lenora A. Saville, daughter of Jessie and Jane Saville, was born March 27, 1889, at Montour, Ia., and was married 29 years ago at Grinnell to James Cunningham.
Surviving relatives include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Moffett, of Bonifay, Fla., and Mrs. Carol Kling of Newton and a sister, Mrs. W. R. Mullins of Grinnell.
No definite funeral arrangements have been made.

Funeral Rites Here Sunday For Mrs. Cunningham
Funeral services for Mrs. James Cunningham, 48, who died here Thursday, will be conducted from the Murdoch funeral home Sunday at 2:00 p.m. by Dr. W. H. Blancke, pastor emeritus of the First Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment will be at Grinnell.
Members of the Knights of Pythias lodge will attend the rites in a body, the group to meet at the hall at 1:15 p.m., in order to be at the funeral home at 1:45.

Funeral Rites Observed Sunday
Dr. W. H. Blancke in Charge of Rites For Mrs. James Cunningham
Funeral rites for Mrs. James Cunningham were conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. by Dr. W. H. Blancke, pastor emeritus of the First Evangelical Lutheran church.
A. Eugene Burton sang two selections, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden,” accompanied at the organ by Lois Hundling.
Burial was in Hazelwood cemetery at Grinnell, with the following as pall bearers: Roy Moffett, Lester Kling, John Wright, Phillip Kling, Fred Vespestad and Carroll Mateer.
Mrs. Fred Vespestad and Mrs. Carroll Mateer were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Members of the Knights of Pythias lodge attended the rites in a body.
