J. W. Cunningham Dies Friday in Medford, Oregon
J. W. Cunningham of Medford, Ore., former Newton resident, died Friday, Oct. 29, according to word received by Newton relatives. Mr. Cunningham had been in poor health for the last three years and suffered a fractured hip last week, which resulted in his death.
The body was taken to Yreka, Calif., where burial was made Sunday beside his wife, who died in 1931.
Since his wife’s death, Mr. Cunningham had made his home with his two daughters in Medford. All of his children were at the bedside during his last illness except a daughter, Mrs. Gertie Preston of Melbourne, who was unable to be there.
The Cunningham family lived in Newton many years ago and Mr. Cunningham was a member of the local Christian church. He sang with Christian church choir.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Clara and Fannie.
Surviving are two sons, Seth and Arthur, and three daughters, Mrs. Mark Putnam and Florence of Medford, Ore., and Mrs. Gertie Preston of Melbourne, Ia.
