Mrs. J. Cross, Baxter, Dies
Mother of Eight Children Succumbs Monday; Funeral Rites Wednesday
BAXTER, IA – Mrs. Jesse Cross, 80, died at her home 3 ˝ miles south of Baxter Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock from complications resulting from old age. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Baxter Congregational church with burial in Restland cemetery.
Mrs. Cross, the former Mary M. Dawson, was a native of Iowa. She was born in Story county Aug. 27, 1856, the daughter of Cyrus and Frances (Bomberger) Dawson. She lived in her native county for several years and was married Oct. 13, 1877.
Her husband and one son preceded her in death.
One brother, Isaac Dawson of Manchester, Ia., and seven sons and daughters survive. Her children are Dwight of near Baxter, Mrs. Abbie Iske of near Ira, Charles and Almond of South Dakota, and Inez, Ruth and Joe, with whom she made her home.
