MONROE – Joseph Lincoln Cowman, son of Joseph and Rebecca Cowman, was born March 1, 1861, in Marion County, and died June 13, after an illness of many months, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 12 days.
On Jan. 24, 1884, he was united in marriage to Sarah Melvina Ogburn, and settled in Marion County, where he resided until death.
To this union four sons were born, two dying in infancy, and two who survive, D. M. of Prairie City and Earnest F. of Monroe.
In the year 1887 Mr. Cowman with his companion united with the Methodist church, of which he was faithful attendant as long as health permitted.
Besides his two sons, he leaves three grandchildren, Warren, Ruth and Floyd; two brothers, William Cowman of Indianola, and S. P. Cowman of Percy, two sisters, Elizabeth Kane of Monroe and Mary Carter of Percy.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Pleasant Hill church with burial in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
