Mrs. Clausen, 66, Dies Late Tuesday
Death Followed Heart and Asthma Attack; Lived Southeast of Town
Mrs. Adolph Clausen, 66, life-long resident of Jasper county, died Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. following a heart and asthma attack. Mrs. Clausen had been suffering these attacks for several years.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Mount Zion church southeast of Newton Friday at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. R. V. Pike of Killduff. Interment will be in the Mount Zion cemetery.
Mrs. Clausen’s death occurred on the farm, 10 miles southeast of Newton, where she had lived for 45 of the 50 years of her married life.
Born in County
The daughter of Bazzil and Frances (Lanphier) Bell, she was born Jan. 14, 1871, on a farm located just two miles from the present home.
She was united in marriage to Adolph Clausen, Aug. 14, 1886, and they spent all of their married life in Jasper county. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in August 1936, with a large family gathering at their home.
Of the nine children born to this union, one daughter, Mabel, preceded the mother in death.
Church Member
Mrs. Clausen joined the Mount Zion church when a young girl and was a Silver Star member of the Buena Vista Grange, in recognition of 35 years of membership.
Surviving relatives include her husband; eight children, Mrs. Edna Taylor, Mrs. Emmet Van Dalen, Mrs. Clarence Fenner, Mrs. Lucille Schulte and Ralph, Marie, Lorene and Laurence, all of Newton and vicinity; 14 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A sister, Mrs. Libby Murphy of Minneapolis, also survives.

Conduct Services For Mrs. Clausen
Rites for Life-Long Jasper County Resident Held at Mount Zion Church
Funeral services for Mrs. Adolph Clausen, 64, life-long resident of Jasper county, were conducted from the Mount Zion church Friday at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. R. V. Pike of Killduff.
The Killduff trio, composed of Lyle and Jake Brand and Clarence Wheatcraft, sang three selections, “The Last Mile of the Way,” “Safe in the Arms of Jesus,” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” Mrs. Lillian Emmert was the accompanist.
Interment was in the Mount Zion cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Emmet Van Dalen, Clarence Taylor, Clarence Fenner, Barend Sleeuwenhoek, James Schutte and Rozelle Van Dalen.
Mrs. Clausen died Tuesday night at her home, 10 miles southeast of Newton, as the result of a heart and asthma attack.
Surviving relatives include her husband; eight children, Mrs. Edna Taylor, Mrs. Emmet Van Dalen, Mrs. Clarence Fenner, Mrs. Lucille Schutte and Ralph, Marie, Lorene and Laurence, all of Newton and vicinity; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Libby Murphy of Minneapolis.
