Mrs. I. N. Bickell Dies At 61 Years
Death Comes to Newton Woman Sunday Night Following Long Illness
Mrs. I. N. Bickell, 61, 308 West Eighth Street South died Sunday night at the Skiff Memorial hospital, following a lingering illness of hardening of the arteries and complications.
Mrs. Bickell, who had been ill since the last of February, was cared for in the home of her daughter, Mrs. George O. Nelson, 905 South Sixth Avenue West for over three months, prior to entering the hospital Sept. 15. She had been critically ill for a number of weeks.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Morgan funeral home Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., with the Rev. H. LeRoy Kinser of the First Christian church in charge. Interment will be in the Newton Union cemetery.
Mrs. Bickell was born in Allenscreek, Ind., Aug. 31, 1876, and came to Iowa with her mother when she was only three years old. They located at Van Meter where she spent her girlhood and was married to I. N. Bickell on Jan. 14, 1897.
The couple made their home in Van Meter until moving to Newton in 1911.
Mrs. Bickell was a member of the Christian church.
Surviving relatives include her husband; four daughters, Mrs. George D. Nelson of Newton, Mrs. Ralph Woody of Reasnor and Bonnie Bickell and Mrs. Willard Bewyer, both of Newton; three grandchildren, Barbara and Mary Bickell and Lorraine Albee, all of Newton, and two brothers, O. E. Burgess of Newton and C. C. Burgess of Marshalltown.
Mrs. Bickell was preceded in death by her only son, Roy Bickell, in 1932.

Hold Bickell Rites Tuesday
Rev. H. Leroy Kinser Conducts Funeral Services for Newton Woman
Funeral services for Mrs. I. N. Bickell, 61, were conducted from the Morgan funeral home Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., by the Rev. H. LeRoy Kinser, pastor of the First Christian church.
A. Eugene Burton furnished the music, singing, “Asleep in Jesus” and “Going Home.” He was accompanied by Lois Hundling.
Interment was made in the Newton Union Cemetery, with the following serving as pall bearers: Mike Kearns, I. F. Woodrow, H. Z. Cammack, Irving Skow, Rollie Brewer and Ed McDaniel.
The floral arrangements were in charge of Mrs. C. F. Rash, Mrs. L. D. Warner and Mrs. Virgil Martin.
Mrs. Bickell died Sunday night at the Skiff Memorial hospital following a lingering illness.
A native of Indiana, she had been a resident of Iowa for over 50 years and of Newton for over 25 years.
Surviving relatives include her husband; four daughters, Mrs. George O. Nelson of Newton, Mrs. Ralph Woody of Reasnor, and Bonnie Bickell and Mrs. Willard Bewyer of Newton; three grandchildren Barbara and Mary Bickell and Lorraine Albee of Newton, and two brothers, O. E. Burgess of Newton and C. C. Burgess of Marshalltown.
A son, Roy Bickell, preceded his mother in death in 1932.
