Died of consumption, June 22, 1876, in the 19th year of her age, at the residence of her parents in Marion Co., Iowa, Mrs. Rachel Main, wife of L. H. Main and daughter of Wm. and Martha Spurgin.

She joined the M. E. Church at the age of 15 years. She has lived a consistent Christian life up to the time of her death. As death approached she was willing to go. She called her friends to the bed and told them farewell with a kiss, then closed her eyes on earth to open them on God.

She leaves a bereft husband and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. ~ Prairie City (IA) News 07 July 1876
