Died
At her late home north of Prairie City Jan. 11, 1898, Mrs. Mary Main, aged 44 years and 5 months. The funeral was held at the M. E. Church Thursday. This was the saddest funeral. At the home four other family members lay sick, the father not being able to attend the funeral or follow the beloved companion to her grave. Seven children are left motherless, the oldest less than fifteen years of age. A large concourse of sorrowing friends gathered at the church of which she was a member to pay the last sad tribute of respect to this worthy woman. Rev. Hall administered words of comfort choosing John 13:7. Jesus said, What I do thou knowest not now but thou shalt know hereafter. The choir sang beautiful selections and in our snowy mantled Waveland they laid her to rest. ~ The Newton (IA) Record Thursday, January 27, 1898
