On Feb. 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Virgil DeBoef at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Prairie City. They lived in New Sharon, were stationed in San Diego, Calif., during Virgil’s military service, and later settled on the family farm in Prairie City.

She was a dedicated Sunday school teacher and volunteered for many different Christian ministries during her lifetime. Swedish Weaving was her passion and her children and grandchildren were the recipients of many blankets that were made with love for her family. Virgil and Marie retired to Grinnell from Albert Lee, Minn., in 2001.
Marie is survived by four children, Wayne (Vicki) DeBoef of Tulsa, Okla., Lee (Jeff) DeBoef Smith of Grinnell, Daniel (Debbie) DeBoef of Mitchellville and James (Jill) DeBoef of Rochester, Minn.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
