Marie E. Bohne, 99, of Newton died Wednesday, Sept. 8, at USA Healthcare in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Michael Dack of Newton Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Henry J. and Dorthea C. (Hoerling) Bohne, she was born April 6, 1905, in Chehalis, Wash. She was a homemaker and did some baby-sitting. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting and cross stitch. She was a member of Newton Congregational United Church of Christ.

Survivors include a sister, Rosie Moore of Newton and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Henry and Richard Bohne and Robert Bohne in infancy; and three sisters, Florence Brantner, Sophie Byal and Elsie Loper.
