GRINNELL -- Audrey "Billie" Mae (Case) Walker, 90, of Grinnell died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at the Mayflower Home in Grinnell.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell with the Rev. John Saxton officiating. Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell is handling arrangements.

There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Legion Auxiliary or to the Mayflower Human Needs Fund.

The daughter of Ethel Bailey and Harry Eli Case, she was born April 1, 1914, in Grinnell. She attended Grinnell schools and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1931. She was an employee of the Maytag Corporation and was a supervisor in the testing labs when she retired in 1965.

In 1965, Billie married Ellsworth Walker and the couple resided in Newton and Montezuma. After her husband's death, she moved back to Grinnell, where she enjoyed spending time with her siblings, nieces and nephew and lifelong friends. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Grinnell.

She enjoyed road trips and especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephew. This carried over in later years to her great nieces and nephews. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her nieces, Camille Calhoun of West Des Moines, Harriet Lincoln of Larkspur, Colo., Marla Crawford of Grinnell, Billie Broich of Ankeny, and her nephew, Lee Martin of Kirksville, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Lyman Case; and two sisters, Idamarie Smith and Marguerite Martin. ~ Newton Daily News, Wednesday, November 3, 2004
