LOVILIA -- John E. Hirchak, 84, of Lovilia, former Maytag employee, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at the Monroe County Hospital emergency room in Albia.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia with the Rev. William Walter officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia.

Friends may call today at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. A Rosary Service will be held at 6 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established for family wishes.

The son of John and Anna (Hutta) Hirchak, he was born July 23, 1920, in Sol, Czechoslovakia. On June 27, 1959, he married Mary Lou Sinnott in Georgetown. He was a farmer and worked for the Maytag Company for 30 years. He retired in 1982. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 997, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Weller and later St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. He also was a third degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4167 of Albia.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Jack Newport of New Sharon and Debbie and Mark Jackson of Albia; four sons and a daughter-in-law, John of Albia, Joe and Cindy of Bussey, Michael of Melrose and Jim of Lovilia; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Theresa Boozell of Bloomington, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Hirchak
