Brice Jay Miller, 2111 N. Fifth Ave. E. died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Iowa Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Syd McCrorey, associate pastor of Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton, officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Garden Grove Cemetery in Garden Grove.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will be present. Memorials will be accepted in his name or to Easter Seals.

The son of Bert Alvin and Nancy Mae (Honn) Miller, he was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Decatur. He graduated from Leon High School. On Nov. 17, 1957, he married Dora B. Carpenter in Osceola. He worked for Maytag Company in the sheet metal department from July 1964 to 1970. He retired due to his health. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He also enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Miller attended Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton, V.F.W. Post 1655 and American Legion Post 111. He served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army Signal Corps on the Microwave Towers.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth Robert Miller and Nancy Ferguson of Hartford and Steven Douglas Miller of Newton; a daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Miller of Des Moines; a brother, Ralph Dean Miller of Kellogg; and a sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Walt Lelmer of Clive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Robert E. Lee; and two brothers, Wayne Lewis Miller and Homer Alvin Miller.
