MERCED, Calif. -- Carol (Beck) McDaniel, 80, of Merced, Calif., formerly of Newton, died Sept. 17, 2004, in Merced, Calif.

Her body was cremated.

The daughter of Alfred and Lillian Beck, she was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Grinnell. She graduated from Grinnell High School and worked as a key punch operator and computer operator for Grinnell Mutual Re-insurance. She married Lawrence McDaniel.

Survivors include two sons, Leslie McDaniel of Bellevue, Wash., and William McDaniel of Los Banos, Calif.; a daughter, Linda Brickman of Merced, Calif.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Mabel Brown of Montezuma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Thomas; and a sister, Gertrude Pollard.
