ONTARIO, Calif. -- LeRoy Dean Curtis, 70, of Ontario, Calif., formerly of Newton, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at his home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Thomas Lloyd of Newton officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Memorials will be accepted to VNA & Hospice of Southern California and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Theodore and Ada Belle (Springer) Curtis, he was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Colfax. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1955. On May 22, 1955, he married Francis L. Clement in Newton. He was a meat cutter for Hy-Vee West in Newton for five years and for Albertson's in California for 25 years. He was past president of the Rancho Ontario Mobile Home Park and past president of the Fair Housing for Mobile Home Parks Board. He grew up in Colfax and lived for a few years in Newton before moving to southern California, where he lived for the past 35 years.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Mary Curtis of Hesperia, Calif., Rodger and Liz Curtis of Granite Bay, Calif., and Randy Curtis of Ontario, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Dave Smith of Anaheim, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Leora Palessiro of Ontario, Calif., and Edith and Thomas Lloyd of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Breanna.
