Norma Jean Crook, 70, of Newton died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at her home.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of William and Leona (Ashley) Hites, she was born March 24, 1934, in Omaha, Neb. On June 15, 1951, she married Jim K. Crook in Newton. She was a homemaker and worked as a cook at Heritage Manor Care Center, Washer City and Mom's Place. She was a resident of Newton since 1947.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dan and Julie Crook and Tim Crook, all of Newton; three daughters and a son-in-law, Becky and Bob Etter, Laurie Van Wyngarden and Kim Crook, all of Newton; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barb Nihart of Lincoln, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Nancy.
