Leonard A. "Bing" Binegar, 76, of Newton died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, where the family will be available from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Charlie L. and Luella L. (Sanders) Binegar, he was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Montezuma. He was a construction worker. He lived in California and Omaha, Neb., before moving back to Newton in 1998.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Bruce of Newton and Jeff Mass of Omaha, Neb.; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald "Butch" Binegar of Newton; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Eleanor Madoll of Grand Rapids, Minn., Pauline and John Plowman, Hazel and Ted Sutton, Patty and Harry Farr and Alice Farr, all of Newton; many nieces, nephews; and his former wife, Virginia Cook of Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers-in-law.
