Milton Dale Breckenridge, 86, of Leon, formerly of Newton, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at West View Acres in Leon.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Newton Union Cemetery. Cremation Society of Iowa is handling arrangements.

The son of Milton and Agnes (Howell) Breckenridge, he was born Dec. 21, 1917, in Newton. He attended school in Newton. On June 22, 1940, he married Thayis Reed in Newton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He belonged to the First Convalescent Hospital Unit, serving in England, France and Germany. He and his wife lived in Newton, Lynnville, Grinnell, moved to Decatur in 1964 and to Leon in 1968. He was a member of the Chester Congregational Church and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carroll and Don; a sister, Eardine; and nieces and nephews.
