CHRIS BOLLHOEFER DIES OF CANCER
Jasper County Resident and Farmer Succumbs at Hospital This Afternoon.

Laurel, Feb.22-Special to The Daily News,- Christoph Bollhoefer, 68 of Newton, died at the Deaconess hopital at Marshalltown at 1:20 this afternoon after almost a year's illness with cancer.

Mr. Bollhoefer contracted the disease in May of 1929, and has since that time been constantly afflicted with it, finally succumbing to its attack this afternoon.

He was born on Oct. 10,186l on the farm where he lived in Malaka township north of Newton until shortly before his death. In February of 1888, he was married to Mary C. Flege in Allamakee county, Iowa. They moved to the farm north of Newton and resided there for the remainder of their lives. Mrs. Bollhoefer died in July of 1926.

Mr. Bollhoefer was never connected with many civic organizations, but continued to display a spirit of co-operative progress in the community. He was a faithful member of the St. John's Evangelical church.

Mr Bollhoefer is survived by six children, John F. and Ed H. of Haverhill; Mrs. Martha White of Melbourne; Mrs. Harry Sietmann of Laurel, and Albert and Grant of Malaka township near the Old homestead. He is also survived by one brother, Henry of Newton; and sisters, Mrs Mary Brockman of Wellington, Kansas; Mrs. Sophia Flege of Waukon, Iowa; Mrs. Etta Raeder of Melbourne; Mrs. Fred Brandt of Melbourne and Mrs. Minnie Osten of Laurel, and by 14 grandchildren.

No funeral arrangements have been announced. ~ The Daily News 2-22-1930
