From the Colfax Clipper we learn that Mrs. M. J. Croft last Sunday received from Muncie, Ind., a telegram containing the sad news that her niece, Mrs. Jennie Besack, had that day passed away. The lady was forty-two years of age, and was a 23 years ago a resident, with her parents, of the farm in Mound Prairie Township southeast of the Rorabaugh schoolhouse. Her father, Clark Murray, died only a few months ago at his home in Reynolds, Nebraska. Jennie was the wife of J. B. Besack, at one time prominently identified with Jasper County journalism as a member of the firm of Besack, Allum & Rodgers publishers of the Jasper Co. Republican (now the Newton Journal). She was a most amiable and accomplished woman, a devoted daughter and a loving, faithful wife. Since her birth a constant sufferer from a constitutional malady, the attack of typhoid fever with which she was prostrated some four months since steadily undermined her impaired vitality and the end, although delayed, was none the less certain. Mrs. Croft left on Sunday evening train and reached Muncie in time to attend the funeral. ~ The Newton Record Thursday, Newton, IA, May 19, 1898
