Yesterday morning Mrs. Emma Carey Joiner, who had been an invalid for more than a year, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Louis Landmesser, twelve miles southeast of Newton.

Mrs. Joiner was long a resident of Newton. Her husband, Bennett Joiner, who survives her, was at one time a partner with Mr. Stover. During her illness she has made her home with her sister, Mrs. Louis Landmesser and at the James Carey home.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at one o’clock from the home, where her death occurred, and the remains will be buried in the Hewitt Cemetery. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Saturday, May 18, 1907, Page 1, Column 3
