Mrs. Caroline Hunt died after a brief illness of pneumonia, last evening at 7 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. F. Cooper, 122 North Street. Had she lived until July 26 she would have been eighty-nine years of age. Her birthplace was Rockbridge County, Virginia. When a young woman the family moved to Newark, Ohio, where April 26, 1844, she was married to Edward Hunt.

Four years after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hunt and their first child moved to Illinois, and settled at Sullivan. This was their home until the father’s death occurred Dec. 20, 1888. Since that time Mrs. Hunt has divided her time with her surviving married daughters, Mrs. C. F. Cooper of this city and Mrs. E. W. Carrington of Des Moines.

Mrs. Hunt was a loving wife and mother, and leaves besides the two daughters, three grandchildren. Everyone who knew her love and admired her for her many lovable qualities.

This afternoon a brief service was held at the daughter’s home, and tomorrow morning the two daughters and their families will leave with the body for Sullivan, Ill., where it will be laid to rest. ~ The Newton Daily News, Thursday, May 2, 1907, Page 1, Column 5
