Eugene Jolly, Sr. Services Held Monday
Funeral services for Eugene A. Jolly, Sr., 94, a longtime resident of the Colfax community, were held Monday, December 6, at Walters-Coburn Funeral home in Colfax.
The Rev. Dick Clark, pastor of the Colfax United Methodist Church, conducted services. Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
Mr. Jolly died Saturday, December 4, at the Jasper County Care Facility southeast of Newton.
Survivors are two sons, Lewis Jolly off Des Moines and Eugene L. Jolly of Newton; a daughter, Annabel Acton of Sioux City; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother and three sisters.
The son of Lewis and Mary Petrie Jolly, he was born October 16, 1882, in Lyons south France.
He was married to Ethel Perry in Oskaloosa in 1905.
Mr. Jolly came to the United States as a child and began working coal mines in the Colfax area when he was ten years old.
Organist: Miss Eleanor Howell.
Casket bearers: Carroll Acton, Lee Barnett, Jim Jolly, Norman McCrae, Frank Millburn, Lyle Meadows.
