Ira H. Jontz, 72, of Rock Island, Ill., a former longtime resident of Baxter, died Friday at Rock Island.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Dick Clark, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Colfax, conducted the services. Burial was in Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
Survivors are a son, Jack D. of Andalusia, Ill., a daughter, Mrs. George S. Smith of San Jose, Calif.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Marcsisak of Colfax and Mrs. Jerry Friar of Des Moines; and a brother, T. J. Jontz of Rockwell.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1970.
Mr. Jontz was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks Lodge, all of Rock Island.
An employee of the Farmall Co. of Rock Island, he served in the Mexican conflict from 1918 thru 1921 and World War II.
The son of Ira J. and Lavonna Hedrick Jontz, he was born Dec. 2, 1900 in Baxter and attended Baxter schools.
Bearers were: Edgar Davidson, Richard Ehler, Edwin Jontz, Dale Noell, Richard Marcsisak, Terry Marcsisak.
Honorary Bearers: Robert Hybl, Russel Kintz, Robert Newton.
