‘Bill’ Luing, 69, Died Thursday
William Robert “Bill” Luing, 69, of Rhodes, a longtime Baxter area farmer, died Thursday at the Colonial Manor in Baxter.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at the Congregational United Church of Christ at Baxter.
The Rev. William Coons of Des Moines, assisted by the Rev. T. A. Thompson, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
Survivors are three sons, Ernest of Des Moines, Danny of Collins and Charles of Des Moines; three daughters, Mrs. Wanda Harris of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Pattie Lucy of Des Moines and Mrs. Maxine Thomas, Rhodes, 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The son of Ernest and Mary Deater Luing, he was born Sept. 9, 10-4 in Baxter.
He was married to Rosamond Monohan Aug. 22, 1923 at Baxter.
Organist was Mrs. Donald Akins.
Soloist were Mrs. Douglas Deutsch and Mrs. Max Butler.
Pallbearers were Wayne Clapper, Ted Warner, Louis McGrane, Jimmy McGrane, al Razor, Henry Robinette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one son.
