Colfax Woman Dies in Car Accident
Norma Jean Burton, 38, of Colfax, was killed in a two vehicle collision Saturday on US 65 just northeast of Des Moines.
The Colfax woman was killed when her car collided head-on with a van carrying a Des Moines family of seven.
The driver of the van, Theodore Hudson, 53, his wife and four of their five children and stepchildren were treated for minor injuries.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Colfax.
The Rev. Robert Jones, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Survivors are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Dunsbergen of Rt. 1, Colfax; three brothers, Dale Dunsbergen of Newton, Earl Dunsbergen of Ankeny and Gary Dunsbergen of Colfax; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Judy) Floss of Baxter; two grandmothers, Mrs. Jennie Vander Horst of Colfax and Mrs. Madge Dunsbergen of Lynnville; five nephews, Mike, Kent an Billy Dunsbergen and Craig and Mark Floss; and a niece, Christine Dunsbergen.
Mrs. Burton was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and an active member of the Sand Hill Grange.
She had been employed as an industrial order clerk at the Iowa Paint Manufacturing Co. in Des Moines.
The daughter of William and Anna Marie Vander Horst Dunsbergen, she was born July 10, 1935 in Lynnville and was a 1953 graduate of Newton Community High School.
The organist was Mrs. Ramon Faidley. Soloist was Mrs. Bob Riley.
The flower committee was Mrs. Durlyn Lester, Mrs. Robert Luther and Mrs. Margaret Lamson.
Bearers were Delwin Cross, Durlyn Lester, Robert Cockerham, Robert McKern, Larry Beals, Robert Luther.
