Daniel Birchette Died Saturday, April 21st
Daniel Major Birchette, 68, a resident of Colfax since 1970, died Saturday at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax.
The Rev. Omer Woltering, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
Rosary was recited at 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Margaret; two sons, Donald L. and Robert M., both of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; five sisters and brothers, Mrs. Sarah Vickings of Disputanta, Va., Miss Margaret R. Birchette and John M., both of Prince George, Va., and T. Dury and Jesse, both of Hopewell, Va.
Mr. Birchette was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic church.
He had been employed for 28 years at the Van Dyke Furnace Co. in Des Moines.
The son of John and Susan Royal Birchette, he was born Aug. 4, 1904 in Prince George, Va.
He was married to Mary Margaret McCool June 18, 1931 in Des Moines.
Mr. Birchette had also resided in Des Moines.
Music was by the Chamber Choir.
Organist was Miss Eleanor Howell.
Bearers: John W. Bell, Ed Flattery, Edward Flattery, Steve Flattery, Mark Grim, Robert Phaby.
