Gilman Castor Died Thursday
Gilman Lewis Castor, 84, of Ira, a longtime resident of the Ira community, died Thursday at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ira Church.
The Rev. T. A. Thompson, pastor of the United Church of Christ (Congregational) at Baxter and the Rev. W. Leonard Rowse, pastor of the United Methodist Christian church at Ira, conducted the services. Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery in Ira.
Survivors are a son, John of Ira; a sister, Mrs. John (Nellie) Gebers of Saratoga, Calif.; and 46 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1965, three sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Castor had been employed as a carpenter and millwright for many years.
The son of Seward and Nellie Gray Castor, he was born Aug. 30, 1888 at Harrisburg in Banner County, Neb., and was educated in the Ira community.
He was married to Coral Cross Jan. 18, 1910.

Delwin Cross of Killduff, Mrs. Alpha Cross and John Cross attended funeral services for Gilman Castor at Ira Sunday afternoon. They had lunch in the evening at the Delwin Cross home.
