Richard Wood Dies in Accident in California
Richard Alan Wood, 36, of Garden Grove, Calif., formerly of Colfax, was killed in a motorcycle accident Friday, Dec. 1, 1972 while enroute to his work at Anaheim, Calif.
The son of Harley Raymond and Bonnie Annis Wood, he was born March 13, 1936 at Monroe, Iowa. He was a 1954 graduate of Colfax High School, afterward serving in the Navy and receiving his discharge in 1958. He attended Compton College, Santa Ana College and West Coast University of Engineering in California.
Mr. Wood had been employed by Autonetics Division of North American Aviation in Anaheim, Calif., the past 13 years as a Supply Support Requirement Analyst.
He was married to Martha Burgess August 17, 1962 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Survivors are his wife, Martha; two daughters, Mrs. Kathy Jagodnik of Stanton, Calif., and Karen Burgess at home; a son, James Burgess at home; four brothers, Harley, Gary and Bruce of Colfax and James of Garden Grove, Calif.; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Aletha Annis of Bellflower, Calif. Also surviving are thirty-two foster children.
He was preceded in death by his mother in March 1958 and father in November 1958.
Services were conducted by Rev. Hughes at Westminister Memorial park, Westminister, Calif., at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1972. Burial was in Westminister Memorial Gardens.
