Mrs. Hazel Van Riper Died December 1st
Mrs. Hazel Van Riper, 86, died Friday, Dec. 1, 1972 at the Gardner Custodial Home in Colfax, where she had resided the past few years.
Mrs. Van Riper had been a resident of Colfax since 1933, moving here from Minnesota.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Hawvey, she was born Nov. 13, 1886 at Clear Lake, Iowa. On April 3, 1901, she was married to John Earl Van Riper at Aredale, Iowa.
Surviving are three sons, Howard of Colfax, Ray, who lives in Montana and Lloyd of National City, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Guy (Joy) Lester of Los Angeles, Calif., and several grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 4, 1972 at 1:30 p.m. in Walters Funeral Home at Colfax.
The Rev. Robert Jones, pastor of the Colfax Christian church, conducted the services.
Mrs. Darrold Hunter was the soloist and Miss Eleanor Howell was the organist.
The bearers were: Homer Selby, Dale Ogburn, Rex Rorabaugh, Arthur Shepley, Arnold Stir and John Bell.
Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
