Mrs. Wayne (Thelma) Stroup Died Tuesday
Mrs. Wayne W. (Thelma M.) Stroup, 72, of 731 Polk Blvd., Des Moines, former longtime Colfax resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 1972 at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines.
The daughter of David J. and Margaret Price Thomas, she was born Jan. 11, 1900 at Colfax. She was a 1919 graduate of Colfax High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College and Des Moines University. She had taught school for 8 years.
She was married to Wayne W. Stroup on June 19, 1928 at Nashua, Iowa.
Mrs. Stroup lived in the Colfax community until moving to Des Moines in 1958, where she had resided since that time.
Mr. and Mrs. Stroup owned and operated a grocery store in Colfax for a number of years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Des Moines.
Survivors are her husband, Wayne; a son, John W. Stroup of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Hartley of Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 22, 1972 at 2:30 p.m. in the Colfax Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
