Mrs. Millie McQuiston Died Sept. 23
Services for Mrs. Charles (Mildred May) McQuiston, 87, were held Saturday, Sept. 26, 1970, at 11 a.m. in Walters Funeral Home in Colfax. She died Wednesday evening, Sept. 23rd at Des Moines General Hospital where she had been hospitalized about six weeks. Though in failing health the past few years, she had remained active until her last illness, maintaining her home and a garden.
Mrs. McQuiston had been a resident of Colfax since 1910 and prior to that had lived in Kansas.
The daughter of H. T, and Fannie Spears Owen, she was born Nov. 2, 1883, at Lincoln Center, Kans.
She was married to Charles McQuiston on May 17, 1905, at Lucas, Kans. Her husband preceded her in death in July 1958.
Surviving are a brother, W. S. Owen of Hill City, Kans.; and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Vague of Des Moines and Mrs. Florence Wood of Jennings, Kans.
The Rev. Gaylon Decious, minister of the Colfax Christian Church, conducted the services.
Mrs. Ramon Faidley was the organist.
The bearers were: Elmer Bell, Abraham Hunter, Dale Ogburn, Mac Wade, Jack Ward and John Weirick.
Mrs. Mac Wade and Mrs. Edward Ward took care of the flowers.
Burial was in the McKeever Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Goodman of Madrid and Mr. and Mrs. Will McQuiston of Cedar Rapids spent from Friday to Sunday afternoon in the home of their sister, Mrs. Hazel Binkerd. They were called here by the death of their sister-in-law, Mrs. Millie McQuiston. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Akins and family of Baxter visited Friday and Saturday in Mrs. Binkerd’s home. Mrs. Gladys Graham was a dinner quest Saturday and Sunday.
