Wm. Robert Welch Died June 11th
Services for William Robert Welch, 86, retired farmer and longtime resident of Jasper County, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 1970, at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Laurence Garrett, minister of the United Methodist Church, officiated.
Miss Mable Kaldenberg was the soloist and Mrs. Frank B. Evans was organist.
The bearers were Robert Brisel, Jack Brisel, David Brisel, William Welch, Chas. Zahrones and Sam Cross. Honorary bearers were Dennis Welch, Donald Lewis, Kenneth Lewis, Kevin Lewis and Kirk Lewis. All are grandsons of Mr. Welch. One of his grandsons, Rodney Welch, who is in the Navy, was unable to be here for the service.
Mrs. Glen Noring and Mrs. Sam Beals were in charge of the flowers.
Burial was in McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.
Mr. Welch died Thursday evening, June 11th at the Gardner Custodial Home in Colfax where he had resided the past six months. He had been in failing health past few years.
Mr. Welch moved to Colfax in 1955 from the Goddard neighborhood where he had resided for 22 years. He had lived in the Mingo and Ira communities prior to this.
The son of William Richard and Elizabeth Johnson Welch, he was born August 23, 1883, in Monitaw County, Mo.
Mr. Welch was married to Hattie B. Mills at Ira, Mo., March 16, 1910.
Surviving are his wife, Hattie; three daughters, Mrs. Charlie (Bernice) Brisel of Baxter, Mrs. Wade (Donna) Cross of Baxter and Mrs. Charles (Eleanor) Lewis of Colfax; one son, William Lester Welch of Newton; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Emma Flynn of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Virg Bell of Lebanon, Mo.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, two brothers, two sisters and his parents.
