Mrs. Frank A. Baker Died Saturday Morning
Mrs. Frank A. (Elizabeth L.) Baker, 88, who resided at Grant’s Nursing Home in Newton, died Saturday morning, June 13, 1970 at Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home at Newton.
The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of First Christian Church at Newton officiated.
Miss Ruth Jackson was the soloist and Mrs. R. L. Jackson was the organist.
The pallbearers were: Dr. Charles Coughlan, Duane Westbrook, Lester Beard, Donald Ely, Harold Quick and Robert Baker.
Mrs. Andrew Beard and Mrs. Velma Wilson were in charge of the flowers.
Burial was in Union Chapel Cemetery at Ira.
The daughter of Clinton O. and Elizabeth Brown Rider, she was born March 23, 1882 near Ira.
She was married to Frank Arthur Baker on October 24, 1900, at Ira. The couple farmed in the Ira community prior to moving to Newton in 1942.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1963. Also preceding her in death were one brother and four sisters.
Surviving are a son, Stanley l. Baker of Danville, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Vincent (Helen) McDermott of Mingo; six grandchildren; James and Richard Baker of California, Robert Baker of Texas, Mrs. T. L. (Margaret) Durbala of Newton, Mrs. Bruce (Barbara) Gaylor of Princeton, Patricia McDermott of Mingo and 11 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Louise John of Northwood, Mrs. Ethel Dodd of Tujunga, Calif., and Mrs. Hazel Moyer, La Crescenta, Calif.
Mrs. Baker was a member of First Christian church, Newton.
