John P. Riddle Died March 30
John Perry Riddle, 61, died Monday, March 30, 1970, in the Iowa Methodist Hospital at Des Moines.
Mr. Riddle had been a resident of Colfax since 1947 and prior to moving here had resided at Exira and Washington, D.C.
He was employed as a machinist for 10 years at Maytag Co. in Newton and for 10 years at the Monroe Co. in Colfax.
The son of John Lenoir and Millie Compton Riddle, he was born May 14, 1908, in Greenville, South Carolina.
Mr. Riddle served in the Armed Forces from 1925 to 1931.
He was married to Sigrid Faaborg on Jan. 2, 1943, at Rockville, Md.
Mr. Riddle was a member of the Colfax Christian church and was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Colfax.
Surviving are his widow, Sigrid; three sons, John Simon, William Perry and James Alan, all of Colfax; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Ann Cupples of Dallas, Texas; and Linda Louise Riddle of Colfax; and two grandchildren, Mary Lucinda and John David Riddle of Colfax.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Florence Barfield of Greenville, S.C., Mrs. Elsie Rusta of New York City, New York, and Mrs. Olive Backon of San Diego, Calif.; and two half-brothers, Henry Henson and Cline Henson, both of South Carolina.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 1, 1970, at 2 p.m. in the Colfax Christian Church.
The Rev. Gaylon Decious, pastor of the church, officiated.
Mrs. Ramon Faidley was the organist.
The pallbearers were: Leroy Borts, Jack Good, Frank Neal, Chester Krebs, Paul Gannon and Harold Taylor.
Mrs. Kenneth Faidley and Mrs. Chester Krebs were in charge of the flowers.
Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
