Services For George Teed Dec. 26th
George Delroy Teed, 45, a resident of this community most of his lifetime, died Monday, Dec. 22, 1969, at Des Moines.
Mr. Teed was electrocuted Monday morning when equipment used for restringing power lines along Fleur Drive in Des Moines came in contact with live electrical lines. He was dead on arrival at Iowa Methodist Hospital despite efforts by fellow workers to revive him. He was a truck driver for L. E. Meyers Const. Co. and had been employed there 9 months. He previous worked at Winpower in Newton for ten years.
The son of Gail and Esther Kern Teed, he was born April 13, 1924, at Collins.
He moved with his family to the Colfax area as a small child and attended the rural schools of this area.
Mr. Teed was a veteran of World War II. He belonged to the American Legion at Colfax.
He was married to Mary Lou Flanegan, April 16, 1947, at Centerville.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou; and five children, George Delroy Teed Jr., in the service and stationed in Germany, Jackie Leroy, Dickie Ray, Gloria Jean and Bart M., all at home.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Esther Teed of Colfax; four brothers, Edward Teed of Peru, Iowa, Leland Teed of Des Moines, Gail Teed Jr. and Richard Teed, both of Colfax; and six sisters, Mrs. Walter Beard, Mrs. Oren Jones, Mrs. James Smith, all of Colfax, Mrs. Frank Beard of Ankeny, Mrs. Donald McCart of Humeston and Mrs. Allen Nickell of Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 26th at 2 p.m. in Walters Funeral Home at Colfax.
Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.
