Mrs. May Kelly Dies Monday at Evansville, Ind.
Mrs. May Kelly, 70, a longtime resident of this community died Monday night at St. Mary’s Hospital, Evansville, Ind. She had been in failing health the past several months but had been about as usual until entering the hospital about three weeks ago. Mrs. Kelly had left Colfax May 11th to visit in the home of her sister, Mrs. A. E. McClure at Princeton, Ind.
Funeral services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax, Saturday, June 27th at 10 a.m. Rosary will be said at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday at the Walter’s Funeral Home in Colfax.

Final Rites For May Kelly Held
Mrs. William A. (May J.) Kelly, 70, a resident of this community since 1915, died Monday night, June 22nd at St. Mary’s Hospital, Evansville, Ind., where she had been hospitalized since May 27th with a heart condition. She had been visiting in the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew McClure at Princeton, Ind., when taken ill.
The daughter of Clemet Pyron Decker and Lida Wilkinson Decker, she was born at Fort Branch, Ind., October 25, 1893.
Mrs. Kelly trained with Dr. R. G. Anspach as a nurse when she first came to Colfax. During World War II, she was active in Red Cross work and taught first aid classes. She was also a volunteer worker at the Draft Office in Newton. For several years before retiring, she was employed in the office of the Monroe Company.
She was married to William A. Kelly, April 19, 1917 at Princeton, Ind. He died in 1948.
Mrs. Kelly was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Colfax and was a member and willing worker of the Altar and Rosary Society of the Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Kelly is survived by her sister, Mrs. Andrew (Helen) McClure.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning, June 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Colfax. Rev. Karl Holtkamp conducted the services. Mass was sung by the Salvatorian Novitiate Choir.
Bearers were Howard Bell, John Bell, Wilford Bond, Larry Hanel, Robert Hopkins and George Paynter.
Those on the flower committee were Mrs. Elmer Bell, Mrs. Helen Bell and Mrs. John Biernbaum.
Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
