Mother of Former Resident Died at Newton
Mrs. Thomas J. (Dora) Hummel, 73, died Tuesday, May 12th at Newton. Mrs. Hummel is the mother of Mrs. Preston (Pauline) Brown of Minneapolis, formerly of Colfax.
Mrs. Hummel had resided at Newton since 1922.
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Pauline Brown, Mrs. Hummel is survived by her husband; three sons, Louie and Kenneth of Newton, Thomas, Jr. of Salem, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, two brothers, Elmer Cooper of Knoxville, Melvin Cooper of Newton; and a sister, Mrs. Joe Rouse of Newton.
Funeral services were held Friday.
Burial was in Palo Alto Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Preston Brown of Minneapolis were called back to Iowa last week by the death of her mother, Mrs. Thomas (Dora) Hummel at Newton. Funeral services were Friday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Brown visited his mother, Mrs. Margaret Brown, Sunday at Gorman’s Hillside Rest Home before returning to Minneapolis.
