Elmer McAninch Died Tuesday Morning
Elmer McGinley McAninch 76, a resident of this city since 1913, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 11 at 4:20 at the Skiff Memorial Hospital at Newton. He had entered the hospital Monday morning. Mr. McAninch had been in failing health for several years.
The son of McGinley and Margaret McGee McAninch, he was born May 30, 1887 at Brooklyn, Iowa. He received his education in the Brooklyn school.
He was married to Sina Vogel Weithers, Nov. 6, 1913 at Rock Island, Ill. The couple observed their 50th wedding anniversary last Nov. 6th.
Mr. McAninch was employed as a railroad worker until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife; five step children, Mrs. Selena Burt, Mrs. James (Bertha) Mellor and Henry Weithers, all of Colfax, Mrs. Paul (Leona) Tunnell of Racine, Wisc., and Harry Weithers of Des Moines; 19 step grandchildren and 35 step great grandchildren. Also surviving him are two half-sisters, Mrs. Frank Smith and Mrs. Ray Kann, both of Belle Plaine, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Walters Funeral Home. Rev. Anthony Pettrone, minister of the Colfax Christian Church, will conduct the services.
Mrs. Darrold Hunter will be the soloist and will be accompanied by Miss Eleanor Howell, organist.
Bearers: Howard Highley, Raymond Fletcher, Eldon Lind, Ted Schlosser, Richard Swanson, James Thomas.
Flower committee: Mrs. Loren Clark and Mrs. Lee Renfro.
Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.
