E. O. Hopkins Died Tuesday at Newton
Ernest Otley Hopkins, 73, 27 Cherry street, Colfax, died Tuesday, July 19th at Skiff Hospital in Newton. He had been in the hospital seven days.
Mr. Hopkins had resided in the Colfax area 23 years, farming the Anspach farm south of Colfax until about two years ago, when his health failed and he moved into town. Prior to coming to Colfax, he had lived in the Newton area for 17 years.
The son of Albert and Emma Foster Hopkins, he was born at Gentryville, Indiana, June 19, 1893.
He was married to Edith Snook, Nov. 7, 1917 at Devils Lake, N.D.
Survivors are his wife, Edith; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Harter and Mrs. Charles Lust, both of Newton; two sons, Robert G. Hopkins and William A. Hopkins, both of Colfax; 17 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Hopkins of Fort Wayne, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. Scott Hall of Lafayette, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, July 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.
