Mrs. Dirlam Dies Sunday Morning; Rites on Tuesday
Mrs. Stella Morton Dirlam, 61, resident of Newton for the past 22 years, died about 12:35 o’clock Sunday morning at her home. She had been in ill health for the past several years.
Funeral services will be at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning at the Morgan Funeral Home. Rev. Lowell M. McConnell, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Newton Union cemetery.
The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther B. Morton, Mrs. Dirlam was born July 8, 1887 at Menlo, Ia. She was graduated from Menlo high school with the class of 1905, and was married to James William Dirlam Oct. 27, 1908, in a ceremony in Menlo.
Mr. and Mrs. Dirlam made their home in Guthrie county before moving to Newton in 1927. Mrs. Dirlam was a member of the First Prersbyterian church and belonged to the Emanon class of the church.
She is survived by her husband, three sons, Dr. Kenneth M. Dirlam of Des Moines, Lawrence E. Dirlam of Des Moines and James William Dirlam at home; four daughters, Mrs. S. Ray (Pauline) Irvin of Des Moines, Doris and Betty Dirlam at home and Mrs. P. A. (Iona) Pratt of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. W. F. Earhart of Stuart and Mrs. Odis Partlow of Menlo; three brothers, S. B. Morton of Menlo, Cyrus Morton of Des Moines and S. L. Morton of Decatur, Neb., and six grandchildren.
