Miss Josie Daft Died Tuesday in Des Moines
Miss Josie V. Daft, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 23rd at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, where she had spent the past ten weeks. She had been in failing health for several years.
The daughter of William H. and Ann Daft, she was born February 14, 1883 on a farm near Prairie City. She moved to Colfax with her parents in 1907 and devoted herself to them until the death of her father in 1910 and her mother in 1925. Miss Daft and a sister, Lucy, also maintained a home and cared for a niece and nephew for several years after the death of their mother.
As a young woman, Miss Daft united with the Methodist Church at Colfax.
In 1953 she moved from Colfax and since that time had made her home in Des Moines.
Preceding her in death were her parents, four sisters and a brother.
Left to mourn her death are cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Colfax. Rev. Dale Nicholson will conduct the services. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in the Waveland Cemetery at Prairie City.
