Died – Boyd – At the family residence in Poweshiek township on Monday, May 28, 1883, Mrs. Elizabeth Boyd, aged 67 years, 5 months and 18 days.
Mrs. Boyd was a native of Carter County, Tenn. She had lived in Jasper County since 1856 – coming here with her husband, J. C. Boyd, and here she had reared a family of 8 children.

Poweshiek Letter – Died, Elizabeth Boyd, of this township, May 28th, at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 18 days. The deceased was a victim of slow consumption, and for nearly twelve months the good old woman has been helpless, and has patiently borne the task – now needed – that of dwindling along without health or hope, for months. She was buried at Union Chapel cemetery, the 29th. Rev. Durfee conducted the funeral services.
