William W. Danks was born Feb. 16, 1857, in Allantown, Penn., and died Sept. 2, 1943, at Madrid, Iowa, age 86 years, 6 months and 17 days.
When twelve years old he came to Monroe, Iowa, with his mother, where he grew to manhood and was married to Marilla Mather. To this union five children were born, all of whom survive him. They are Lewis Danks of Boone, Ella Telfer of Oakland, Calif., Hulda Perrier and Mable Cleven of Madrid and Eva Lohrback of Dodge Center, Minn. One sister, Mrs. Anna Hummel of Monroe, Iowa, twenty-one grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive.
For thirteen years he resided at Seevers, Iowa and worked in the coal mines. While there he made many friends, a number of whom are still residents of Colfax and vicinity.
Funeral services were held at Madrid, Iowa.
